ABOUT OUR DEPUTY SPEAKER

Deputy Speaker Kristine Singson, Puso ti Segundo Distrito ti Ilocos Sur.

Being a loving wife and mother to 4 children, she recognizes the value of Education in ensuring the future of our young people.

To empower the women, she founded the Districtwide PUSO TI KABABAIHAN organization that aims to provide livelihood programs, trainings, opportunities, outreach services, and socialization for and by the women. Another one which will directly benefit our students is the newly organized PUSO TI AGTUTUBO, a school-based youth organization to form and mold them to become servant-leaders, community entrepreneurs, and catalysts for change. Also in the works is a similar organization for farmers, the PUSO TI MANNALON.

She has continued to allocate funding for various scholarship programs:
1. Congressman Eric D. Singson Scholarship Grant (CEDSSG) in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP);
2. Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
3. College Educational Assistance Program (CEAP) through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

During this time of pandemic when most people have lost their jobs, she has worked-out for funds with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to help provide income opportunities for our displaced workers through the TUPAD Cash for work Program, for Government Internship Program, or the GIP, to benefit our graduates by giving them the opportunity to acquire first-hand experience of working in various government institutions. She has also allocated funds to TESDA intended to finance various skills trainings on dressmaking, bread and pastry, cookery, driving, welding, and the like.

The mantra of her District Office is TULONG PUSO SERBISYO. Among the services offered in her district office are:
1. Financial, Medical and burial assistance to qualified recipients
2. Processing of scholarship applications and facilitating release of allowances
3. Processing TUPAD and GIP Applications and facilitating pay-out of salaries
4. Processing of TESDA applications and coordinating with the different accredited training schools
5. Coordinating all the requests and needs of the towns in the 2nd district of Ilocos Sur to the appropriate line agencies and ensuring that all concerns are addressed timely.
