Deputy Speaker Kristine Singson paid a visit to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Provincial Training Facility in Brgy. Tablac, Candon City, Ilocos Sur. During her visit, the Congresswoman witnessed the vast improvements of the training facility.
Last February 2020, the signing of the Contract of Usufruct and Turn-Over of Facilities and Equipments between TESDA headed by Sec. Isidro S. Lapeña and the Candon City LGU represented by Mayor Ericson G. Singson was held, formalizing the opening of the Provincial Training Center offering courses like Heavy Equipment Operation, Welding, Carpentry and Masonry in support of President Duterte’s BUILD-BUILD program.
From then on, the training facility answered to the demands of training in the province of Ilocos Sur, especially in the second district. According to Congresswoman Kristine, TESDA can now implement these trainings more efficiently because of the newly improved training facilities and equipment including a newly purchased Back Hoe for Heavy Equipment Operations.
The training facility now has four classrooms and a Mini Organic Farm at the back livestock cages for domesticated animals for their Raise Small Ruminants training.
Congresswoman Kristine also thanked the LGU of Candon City for donating vehicles to the training center to be use by trainees. The Deputy Speaker annually allocates budget for free skills trainings to increase employment opportunities and livelihood of the people of district to cope-up with this COVID-19 pandemic.
As of the moment, TESDA is now giving trainings on Light Vehicle Driving NCII, Heavy Equipment Operation, and Contact Tracing.
